For nearly 400 years, Woburn Abbey and its 3000 acre estate have been home to the Dukes of Bedford. Sometimes known as a treasure house with outstanding collections of art, furniture, silver and gold along with its vast history makes the Abbey one of the finest homes in Britain. Come and enjoy a delicious afternoon tea in the Abbey’s Duchess Tea Rooms overlooking the grounds and absorb the extravagant décor that Woburn Abbey has to offer.

Upon arrival at Woburn Abbey you are welcome to stroll around and take in the grand architecture before being shown to the Duchess Tea Rooms. You are invited to visit the various State Rooms including the dining room and bedrooms of which Royalty have stayed to include Elizabeth I, Charles I, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Touring the Abbey will cover three floors, including the vaults with superb examples of 18th century French and English furniture, silver and gold collections, a wide range of English continental and oriental porcelain. Stunning works of art, celebrated as one of the most important private collections in the world includes paintings by Coyp, Gainsborough, Reynolds and Van Dyck. To complete your experience you will enjoy a full traditional afternoon tea in the Duchess Team Rooms where this indulgent tradition first started by Duchess Anna Maria, wife of the 7th Duke of Bedford. Your tea will consist of a selection of sandwiches, cakes and freshly made pastries, as well as gingerbread cake, fruit cake and scones with clotted cream & jam all homemade.

  • The average length of time needed for Afternoon Tea is approximately 1-2 hours. You are welcome to explore the Abbey before and after your afternoon tea
  • This experience is available from 15th April – 2nd October
    Afternoon Tea will be taken in The Duchess’ Tea Room from 2.30pm – 4.00pm
  • Woburn Abbey is closed from the 1st November 2010 to the 14th April 2011- it will reopen on the 15th April 2011
  • You are welcome to explore Woburn Abbey before and after your afternoon tea which is open at the following times: 11.00am- 4.00pm (last entry) closing at 5pm
  • Please mention any dietary requirements at the time of booking
  • Contents of your afternoon tea are subject to change without prior notice
