Alnwick Castle is proudly known as 'The Windsor of the North’ and was originally built as a medieval fortress. Today it is home to the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland and their family and has been for over 700 years.
During your visit to Alnwick Castle you can stroll through the treasure-filled State Rooms to discover outstanding collections of china, furniture and paintings. Meet characters from the past, telling their stories and bringing history to life. The Library, Drawing Room and Dining Rooms are all furnished with magnificent portraits and elegant marble fireplaces.
As part of your experience step into the unexpected Alnwick Garden to explore acres of fascinating plants, water sculptures, the infamous Poison Garden and one of the world’s largest wooden tree houses. You can also visit the Walled Garden, The Pavilion and the Woodland Walk.
Take pleasure in the Garden’s many surprises as you follow meandering paths through the fragrant Rose Gardens, and marvel at the sight of the Ornamental Garden’s towering delphiniums.
