Alnwick Castle is one of the largest inhabited castles in England and has witnessed battles, rebellions, tragedy and romance. This experience will allow you to wander through the lavish State Rooms as well as taking a visit to the stunning Alnwick Garden, home to the world’s largest tree house. After a fascinating journey through both attractions a delicious afternoon tea will be waiting in the Castle’s courtyard café.

Alnwick Castle is proudly known as 'The Windsor of the North’ and was originally built as a medieval fortress. Today it is home to the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland and their family and has been for over 700 years.
During your visit to Alnwick Castle you can stroll through the treasure-filled State Rooms to discover outstanding collections of china, furniture and paintings. Meet characters from the past, telling their stories and bringing history to life. The Library, Drawing Room and Dining Rooms are all furnished with magnificent portraits and elegant marble fireplaces.
As part of your experience step into the unexpected Alnwick Garden to explore acres of fascinating plants, water sculptures, the infamous Poison Garden and one of the world’s largest wooden tree houses. You can also visit the Walled Garden, The Pavilion and the Woodland Walk.
Take pleasure in the Garden’s many surprises as you follow meandering paths through the fragrant Rose Gardens, and marvel at the sight of the Ornamental Garden’s towering delphiniums.
Your visit will also include a delicious afternoon tea in the courtyard café of the castle to include sandwiches, cakes, scones and tea or coffee. Sit back, relax and enjoy!

  • There is no minimum age for this experience although under 16’s need to be accompanied by a full paying adult
  • The weather should not affect the experience, but please bear in mind that part of your visit will be outside
  • Afternoon tea will take between one and one and a half hours although you can spend a whole day at the venue
  • This experience is available between April and October, between 10.00am and 6.00pm. Last entrance to the Castle is 5.15pm and to the State Rooms is 4.30pm. Last entrance to the Garden is 5.15pm from April to September and 3.15pm in October
  • Vouchers are valid for 12 months
  • All visitors must have a valid voucher
