This experience is a weekend extravaganza of wine and fine cuisine, with tastings, demonstrations and even a gourmet treasure hunt.
Upon arrival at the stunning Castle on the Friday you will be shown to one of the hotels superior rooms. Your room may overlook the stunning gardens or orangery and will include silk drapes, mahogany furniture and deluxe lighting to guarantee a luxurious two night break.
Your Friday afternoon will commence with a delicious full afternoon tea for two to be taken in the Drawing Room. This will include a choice of tea served with hand-cut sandwiches, fruit loaf, shortbread, fruitcake, home-made scones, clotted cream and locally-made preserves.
You may take a stroll in the beautiful grounds of the castle before your early evening wine tasting of up to five wines from a selected region or grape, followed by pre-dinner drinks of two glasses of champagne per person and a gourmet three course meal in Samuel’s restaurant, awarded 3 AA rosettes for its superb menu. The emphasis in the restaurant menu is on seasonal and local produce inspired by the fruit, vegetables and herbs grown in the hotel's four acre walled garden (the largest hotel kitchen garden in the UK), and the menus change accordingly.
After a well earned night’s rest, it is time for your Saturday morning cookery demonstration and tasting with a local food producer, lasting approximately 45 minutes. This will incorporate a short tour of the garden to pick the best seasonal ingredients and a short tasting of the chefs creations to be held in the kitchens.
A delicious two course lunch will then be served followed by some relaxing free time for you to take advantage of any spa treatments you may like to book, a walk in the grounds or time for a gourmet treasure hunt in Masham. The hotel can provide you with a map and clues of nearby markets and delis, in order for you to take part and compete for the prize.
Saturday afternoon will have you taking part in another cookery demonstration followed by afternoon tea and wine tasting plus a delicious five course set menu gourmet dinner.
After such a delicious and indulgent weekend your Sunday morning can be spent at your leisure or you can choose to take the complementary trip in a Landrover into the parkland with the ranger to see the deer and watch him feed them.
