Enjoy this private tour of either Tate Britain or Tate Modern and learn the history behind the permanent collection of British Art. Dating back from 1500 to the present day you will be shown around Tate with each collection explained by your expert guide. If you love art this is the perfect way to explore some of the greatest galleries in the world! Round off your Tate experience with an afternoon tea in one of the Tate restaurants.

  • A one hour tour of the permanent collection at either Tate Modern or Tate Britain for two

On arrival at your chosen Tate gallery you will be met by your own private guide who will explain the route you will be taking and what you are likely to see. Enjoy a one hour tour of the permanent collection and feel free to ask as many questions as you wish. Your guide is an expert and will happily explain any area in more detail. Once the tour is complete you will be shown to the restaurant where you can enjoy your full afternoon tea to include finger sandwiches, home made desserts, and a pot of tea or coffee.

  • There is no minimum age for this experience; however please advise Tate of any children attending under the age of 16
  • The private tour will last for approximately 1 hour, however you may spend as long as you like exploring the Collection after your tour
  • Your afternoon tea needs to be booked between 3.15pm and 5.00pm
  • Tate Britain is open daily from 10.00am – 6.00pm
  • Tate Modern is open Sunday-Thursday from 10.00am - 6.00pm, and   Friday – Saturday from 10.00am – 10.00pm
  • You will need to book your tour anytime between 10.00am and 5.00pm at either location
  • Kindly note that we cannot guarantee all areas of the Collection will be open on the day of your visit therefore we strongly recommend that you call Tate the day before your visit to check of any closures/restrictions
  • Please advise if you have any allergies when booking your afternoon tea
  • Tate Britain and Tate Modern are fully accessible for wheelchair users and there are suitable toilet facilities. Motorised scooters are available if requested in advance
