Enjoy a day on the farm going back to basics and working with nature. Discover the magical bond between man and dog as you learn about the special skills developed by shepherds over the centuries.
You will be working with a breed of dog that has the ability to communicate with its human partner in a way that is quite unique. It is this communication that is used to create a partnership between man and dog and therefore enable them to work together in harmony. This is not a skill that can be taught in a short space of time but you will learn the basics of this “language” and we will help you to “talk” to the dog and to listen to what it is trying to say to you. The pace will be controlled to enable you to understand the dog and the sheep and to learn your part in the game.

  • Expert tuition is provided by Barbara Sykes, a shepherdess, farmer and dog trainer who has represented her country at International Sheep Dog Trials
  • Allow up to five hours for your experience depending on number of people taking part
  • Experience gift pack including personalised voucher and message card 
  • PA cover to a value of £50,00 plus cancellation indemnity

Arrive at 10.30am and spend a couple of hours, probably as part of a group, working with the dogs. There is an hour break for lunch followed by two more hours of working with the dogs.

  • Minimum age: 16 (under 18’s need parental/guardian consent) 
  • This experience is available Monday to Friday
  • Please note that meals are not included, but there is a public house nearby
  • You should be in reasonable health and have a reasonable level of fitness
  • The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary

All you have to do is pay for the experience you wish to purchase and we’ll send a gift pack to you or directly to the recipient. A voucher and booking information will be included in the pack so you just need to check the info and book your experience.
