Ever wondered what it would be like to be a zoo keeper and work with animals all day long? Keeper for a Day offers a unique, once in a lifetime opportunity to get up close and personal with some of ZSL’s most popular creatures. Discover the behind the scenes world of ZSL London Zoo and gain a real insight into the life of a zoo keeper.

Your session will begin with a safety briefing. As part of a group of up to five people, you will be assigned to one of our experienced keepers who will be your host for the day. Once you have been kitted out in your keeper gear, you will get to try your hand at a number of essential keeping duties with several different animals. The itinerary varies day to day but the animals you can expect to work with include: penguins, giraffes, big cats and meerkats. Activities vary from mucking out enclosures, to preparing food and devising enrichment activities, and of course, feeding and meeting some of our animals.

  • Minimum age: 16. There is no upper age limit, although participants will need a reasonable level of fitness to take part in the activities
  • Vouchers will be valid from 9 month from the date of issue. Kindly note that you must have booked and taken your experience before this date as vouchers may not be extended beyond their expiration date
  • This experience is not suitable for pregnant women or those who have given birth within the previous 6 months
  • The site is accessible to wheelchairs but due to practicality we cannot accommodate wheelchair users on Keeper for a Day
  • Whilst every effort will be made to accommodate those with a disability or learning difficulty, due to practicality this cannot always be achieved
  • This experience is available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8.45 to 15.45
  • ZSL reserves the right to change any of the dates of Keeper for a Day experiences
  • ZSL reserves the right to alter the itinerary on any given day due to animal welfare or health issues, but will ensure that if this is the case then the activity will be replaced with another similar task. ZSL endeavours to keep such changes to a minimum
  • Any Keeper for a Day vouchers that are purchased to be used as company benefits or incentives, competition prizes, or any other promotional or public relations activity are subject to an additional surcharge. Please contact keeperforaday@zsl.org for further details
     
     


 

All you have to do is pay for the experience you wish to purchase and we’ll send a gift pack to you or directly to the recipient. A voucher and booking information will be included in the pack so you just need to check the info and book your experience.
