The Michelin starred L'ortolan restaurant is located in a stunning listed building in the beautiful Thames Valley. Whether you’re a novice cook or have flair in the kitchen the Chef’s Experience will allow you the rare opportunity to get stuck into the service and preparation at this award winning restaurant. Whilst the lunch service is being prepared you will be in the heart of the kitchen working in various sections with a qualified, professional chef. Why not help ‘plate up’ or attend at the ‘Pass’ where the chefs amazing creations are sent out to the customers. This is a fast paced kitchen and you will be involved in helping the chefs present the food to Michelin Star quality, all with the help of Executive Chef Alan Murchison and his team. After all your hard work you are welcome to join the chefs with a light lunch to include fresh seasonal ingredients, some of which you may have prepared earlier, and if you are ready and willing, join the team again for the dinner preparation and service – most definitely not for the faint hearted! As a memento of your thrilling experience you will be given a signed dedicated copy of Alan Murchison Food For Thought book to help you recreate this gastronomic experience at home!

• Minimum age: 18
• You should have a reasonable level of fitness as you will be standing for a long period of time
• This experience is available Tuesday-Saturday as the restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday
• The experience will begin at 9.00am and the lunch service will last until 4.00pm Lunch will be served at 11.30am
• The chefs will take a break from 4.00pm until 6.00pm when they will begin the dinner preparation. Customers are encouraged to stay for the dinner preparation, although are welcome to finish their day after the lunch service
• If you are staying for the dinner service the finish time will be around 10.30pm
• Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes as you will be standing throughout your experience
• You will be provided with aprons throughout your experience
• Kindly note that spectators are not allowed 
• Whilst on most occasions the Executive Head Chef will be available it cannot always be guaranteed. A suitable chef will be available in the event this might happen

All you have to do is pay for the experience you wish to purchase and we’ll send a gift pack to you or directly to the recipient. A voucher and booking information will be included in the pack so you just need to check the info and book your experience.
