Membership benefits include free and unlimited entry to all ticketed special exhibitions with priority access so you can skip the queues and come anytime you like during Museum opening hours. You will also receive invitations to private Members-only events, access to the Members’ Room, 10% discount in the shops, cafes and Court Restaurant, a free subscription to the British Museum Magazine and monthly newsletters by email.

When you purchase a voucher for membership to The British Museum, you will receive a gift pack which will include an order form. This will need to be completed by the recipient of the membership and sent back to The British Museum who will send a welcome pack and membership card. Full details can be found on the enclosed order form.

Once you have received your membership card you can then present it for free admission to all special exhibitions and to redeem 10% discount in the Museum’s shops, cafes and Court Restaurant. Throughout the year you will receive regular mailings that keep you up-to-date with exhibition information, public programmes and Members events.

  • Minimum age for members: 16 (Under 16s are able to see the exhibitions for free when accompanied by a paying adult)
  • The Museum is open daily from 10.00am to 5.30pm with late night opening on Friday until 8.30pm
  • You can stay in the Museum for as long as you wish during opening times
  • The Museum is closed on 1 January, Good Friday and 24 to 26 December inclusive
  • The weather will not affect your experience
  • Members can bring a guest all year to special exhibitions and Members’ events for an additional cost. Information will be included with the membership card, once your voucher has been activated
  • The experience content and restrictions may vary. Please check with the venue when booking

All you have to do is pay for the experience you wish to purchase and we’ll send a gift pack to you or directly to the recipient. A voucher and booking information will be included in the pack so you just need to check the info and book your experience.
