2 for 1 - now only £129!! - Experience sailing for the first time aboard the Clipper 60 Taeping, a 60ft Ocean Race Yacht with an impressive pedigree. This proven boat has sailed around the world four times, crewed by amateur sailors and is the perfect yacht for beginners. Under the guidance of a professional and experienced skipper and mate, everyone aboard has the opportunity to be an active member of crew for the day and try out all aspects of sailing, from taking the wheel of Taeping as she speeds through the Solent to working on the foredeck for sail changes. It’s the perfect hands on introduction to sailing.

Your day will begin as you meet the crew in the site office at 10:00 for a cup of tea or coffee before heading down to the pontoons to board Taeping. A professional crew will then introduce you to the yacht and give a short safety briefing before slipping lines and motoring out of the river to the Solent. Then you will help hoist the sails and get your first taste of sailing, as Taeping starts to move under wind power alone.
This is a hands on experience, so you will be actively involved in sailing Taeping throughout the day. There is an opportunity for everyone to take the wheel and steer the yacht and when not steering there are plenty of other important jobs on board to keep you busy as you become a valuable member of the crew aboard this 60ft Ocean Race Yacht for the day. The focus of the trip is learning through doing and the professional crew will introduce you to sailing in a relaxed, informal environment. A baguette lunch is served under sail before returning to the Marina in Hamble at 4.00.

  • Minimum age: 12 (all participants under the age of 17 years must be accompanied by a participating parent or guardian)
  • There is a short ladder on yacht Taeping and we recommend that participants who think they may need assistance to move around book with someone who can give them a helping hand
  • There are no weight or height restrictions and wet weather clothing is available up to size XXL
  • This experience is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, April to October
  • Please allow five hours for this experience. Approximately 45 minutes is spent alongside dock for the safety briefing and to rig the yacht
  • Spectators may watch the yacht depart from the marina, however most of the experience will not be visible from the marina. Entry to the yacht is exclusively for voucher holders. Your voucher is valid for one participant
  • Blue Box Sailing endeavour to run all trips on their scheduled date, however they reserve the right to cancel a trip in the event that the skipper deems the weather conditions to be potentially dangerous to participants, the yacht or her crew
  • The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary. Please check with the venue when booking
  • Your voucher is valid until 30th June 2012. Kindly note that you must have booked and taken your experience before your expiry date as vouchers may not be extended beyond their expiry. This voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer
